One-Handed Blogging...

Had a bit of an "industrial accident" this morning.

Click on "Continue Reading One-Handed Blogging..." for the story. I was building some large storage shelves for the shop area in our barn and using a pneumatic nail gun driving large framing nails. (The individual shelves are 8' by 2' plywood and the framing is all 2X dimensional lumber -- these are for storing power tools, hardware, heavy stuff...) Anyway, I was up on the ladder fastening one of the shelves to the support beams when I felt a pop in my palm like someone had tapped it hard with a pencil eraser. I pulled my hand away and realized that I had to give a good tug to get it dfree... Fortunately, it only went in about a half inch but it went in right along the nerve bundle for the middle finger (the one in the splint) and the tip of the nail also hit the first knuckle bone and gave it a small fracture. Needless to say, I'm not going to be doing any heavy construction for a couple weeks. Lots of other stuff to do though so I'll be keeping busy. Also, when they were taping up my hand, they were kind enough to leave a few fingers free so I can type. It's odd not touch-typing, my error level is waay up. Thank heavens for spall chuckars....
