Fun with a trail-cam

UPDATE - 04/17/2009 - The comments are starting to slide into a ditch and it takes time to moderate them. Comments are closed for this post... A member of one of the email lists I subscribe to sent this in. They live in South Texas and have a Trail Camera set up and pointing to their water tank. (A trail-cam is a weatherproof digital camera with a motion detector -- it snaps a picture when something moves in its field of vision.) Here are a few photos:

Did you know childbirth invariably precedes rape, drug trafficking, pornography, prostitution, murder, genocide, depression, headaches, tyranny, slaving, sodomy, vandalism, cult leadership, suicide, developmental disability, bad days, cuts, bruises, over-drinking, liver disease, sneezing, sniffles, AIDS, and every single death? When will Obama address THIS issue and sterilize our great nation into it's greatest crime-free potential: a nation of no people. In my town, exactly ONE HUNDRED PERCENT of the crime is committed by people who were at one point born(incidentally, mostly white as well [as i am]. I cannot believe those fools in our government allow for this out-dated process of "childbirth" to continue. Long story short: There are criminals, some are Mexican, some Mexicans cross the border, some are interested in committing criminal deeds(as with any group of people), most are not(as with any group people). Any influx of population will add to your crime rates. (There are also some ethical dilemmas presented in your inferences that Mexican criminals should stay in Mexico, but that's an overlong response for another day). I mean not attack your way of thinking, nor your post. I'm just presenting my thoughts on the subject. Sleep well. I sincerely hope your life progresses wonderfully.

wow, most of the comments on here are from a bunch of racist pigs. it's throwing people into categories in the first place that causes racism and tension between people in our society. i'm white and i experienced racism against me the other day...it's not about what group of people is doing what, it's racism in general that's the problem...being prejudiced against anyone because of their race, beliefs, nationality, or orientation is how the vicious circle never ends.

I have recieved these pictures in an email so many times I can not count. I do find it funny that the Illigal Mexicans, lets face the truth, they are illigal or they would not be drinking out of water trough with alge, bacteria, and dead animals floating in it, are the last picture.
All of you that thin k this is sad, that people are being racist, etc., step out of your box and go to the areas where these Illigal Mexicans break into peoples property, rape woman and little girls, and generally pillage and steal. I have property 75 Miles NorthWest of Del Rio. The Mexicans regularly cut chains, break doors down, knock out windows, damage or steal vehicles, you name it.
On top of that, what most of you "City" people do not realize is that a hell of a lot of drugs come in on there backs! In Early March, the National Guard and Border Patrol cought 9 Illigal Mexicans with 300 pounds of COKE, after they had broken into and damaged every building we have on that property, stole all the food, beer, and water.
They are a pest, nuisance, and have no reason to be here in this economy with 6 million American citizens un-employed! We'll see what your president Oboma does...my bet is nothing as to many people are directlly and indirectlly tied to the drug trade in the USA alone. Pathetic!

Well, for all you wet lovers who want to use your heritage as an excuse to defend illegal aliens. SHUT UP. This is the US of A. And with out the USA there would be no free world. There is not a section of the planet that belongs to the original inhabitants. All lands were conqured by someone at sometime. The fact of the matter is if you want to protect illegal migration, you are giving up your freedom, your country and the chance that your future generations (your children and grandchildren) will not have an America to call home. There is only so much space left in the USA. The more crowded we get the less freedom we will have. If that is what you want then good for you. I want protected borders, I want LEGAL migration, I want punishment for illegals from any nation who enter our borders. I have have dealt with wet backs on the ranches I have worked on for the past 15 years in South Texas. There are good and bad people. But I prefer that they all enter legally so we know who are coming in. Al Qeada and other terror groups are using the same trails through Starr, Kelberg and Jim Hogg Counties. You leave the door open for one and they all come in. SO stop your whinning about your mexican heritage and help your Mexican primos get weapons to take back the the 5th largest oil producing country in the world from a corupt government. Mexico is mucho rico y the gente son esclavas!!!! ESCLAVES en MEXICO y ESCLAVES EN DEL NORTE. AND YOU COMPLAIN AND DO NOTHING TO HELP THEM!!!Because all you care about is your heritage, not los mexicanos!

Posted by: SouthTexasBob at April 14, 2009 3:57 PM

god what bunch of idiots! you all are so worried about the mexicans, when you should be running out the rag heads. i don't recall a group of mexicans crashing planes into building or killing our soldiers. just so you hipocrites know, there are many latin men and woman fighting for your right to complain.

These are great pics. Enjoy them and ignore the bigots. Some people have such low self esteem, probably for good reason, that they have to find someone to be better than. They aren't worth a real human's time and shouldn't be allowed to spoil these rare photos.

Posted by: elephantrunt at April 14, 2009 11:23 AM

I thought the Mexicans were funny until I read all the bullshit comments, if these are Illegals then they need to be dealt with, if they are not illegals then no harm done. For those of you who believe that Illegals have some right to do as they please in the U.S. you should go to Mexico and see how far you get!!! Mexico has basically a zero tolerance for actions that we here in the U.S. have to put up with on a daily basis.I say bullshit if you do not belong to the country LEGALLY then get the hell out.If Mexicans are such hard workers they should work hard at making their country a great place to live and quit depleting us of are resources. The bottom line is, hard work doesn't make up for lack of education or the fact that the Mexican Govt. doesn't provide for it's own and has always relied on our support to provide for their refugees.

Saddens me,, Me as a Mexican, born and raised in the USA,,, my grandfather was Spaniard who fought in WWII, My grandmother was Mexican. Sad to know that every day I wake up and put my uniform on and prepare my self to go to war I have to defend a country that is all about helping, or providing democracy and freedom to other countries. We as a super power look at other countries and despise those countries for less, and inhumane rights, or discrimination. We as soldiers fight because half of u in the rest of the world wont or are to scared, but believe and lie to your self that war is not the answer. That we must talk our way out of a further conflicts. You are all fools. We ride around in up armored M1114's because when the towers came tumbling down u wanted a change. You wanted something better. So while half of us stepped up and the others were force into to it. OEF/OIF was in full effect. Amongst those were Mexicans, puerto ricans, blacks, Indians, and asains. mixed nationalities to go to war for you. to defend rights and equality. and you sit here on your keyboards and talk shit about those who die for our country.. It's like a slap in the face. How can we tell the world what to do when in the long run we are fighting our self. And for the record, you rarely hear, or pretty much never hear of a mexican blowing up n e buildings in OK, or dropping random pipe bombs, eating people and sleeping with there dead victims. ETC.. sure they get some tv, or case media but you think of all the white people doing crazy shit.. Ted bundy, Jeffrey Dahlmer, Mr. kasinskie ( or how ever u spell that fuck head). You are no better than us.. You just get the upper hand because America is a racist country plain and simple. Don't forget Idiots, white people are not indigenous. UK, Euorope, Spain, Canada, Serbia, All over, Russians.. don't trip.. Your boy- Dirty Sanchez

And PS... Feel free t leave ur hate comments after my comment it's just a matter of time...

i hate ignorant people who support amnesty for illegals. It was different 150 years ago when we weren't paying millions of dollars for health care of illegal immigrants. Plus paying for all the illegals who are found guilty and spend their lives in jail. You people are really REALLY dumb.

my vote goes towards building a wall large enough to keep every mexican out. Seriously, whens the last times you heard of a mexican doing something good??

Posted by: JoJo at April 13, 2009 10:55 PM

The last one is NOT the last one. Come on guys, look at the date, the "last" one was taken on 3/19. Scroll up and you'll see that 2 more were taken on 3/23 and one on 3/22. Hey, I have an idea, let's rearrange the photos to show people in the last one and we can all assume they are illegals and they stole the camera.....lame.

Posted by: Tina at April 13, 2009 2:42 PM

Even without the last ironic photo, the set is still pretty cool, with such a wide variety of animals. Here, on the northern plains, you wouldn't see quite that much range, but in my personal opinion, the visitors would be of a higher caliber (we don't tend to harbor gabs of illegal aliens, because our good work ethic scares them out).

@noelle: Who services a cattle tank in the middle of nowhere at 4:30 in the morning wearing street clothes and kid's school bags? gtfo

Posted by: Katy at April 13, 2009 2:21 PM

I can't wait to set up my own camera! Living in the Uinta mountain range, I have been feeding all kinds of birds, now I want to know what comes when I am not looking. As for people...hmmm, what is the difference between Native Americans and Mexicans? I thought unless your ancestors came from Europe, you were native, no lines involved. Where I live, I may well see people very much like the ones in the picture and they are very welcome at my house. I would call them family, I live on the Ute reservation and they are my people in this place. The genetics are the same.

Posted by: Linda at April 13, 2009 2:07 PM

There are no pictures taken after the the last one because the illegals probably stole the camera after the flash went off...
I guarantee all these people who are so offended have never lived in the southwest border states. Once you see the way mexicans destroy a community, you tend to lose any sympathy for them.
Calling an illegal alien an "undocumented worker" is like calling a drug dealer an "unlicensed pharmacist".

Posted by: Realist at April 13, 2009 2:02 PM

It is amazing how insensitive you all are. Unless you are a native american, all "Americans" were at one point in their ancestry immigrants. And you would be surprised at the number who came here illegally. This country was built by immigrants and now all of you think you are so righteous to slander these people who are escaping a life of hardship, risking their lives to have even a sliver of the privilege you all have. I'm proud to be an american, where refugees from nazi germany, potato famines, and drug cartels can come to live as free men.

Posted by: wrathgrapes at April 13, 2009 1:19 PM

I love the photos!

I believe that the illegal aliens would rather come to this country legally (think about how much easier that would make their lives - they risk so much), but I think the process is much more difficult than we realize.

http://www.reason.com/images/07cf533ddb1d06350cf1ddb5942ef5ad.jpg I found this through Stumbleupon a few months ago, it is a humorous (yet accurate) depiction of the process of applying for citizenship.

It is next to impossible to enter the country legally. Imagine what they must go through to get here, as much as I hate the drain on our tax dollars (and the environment) I still pity them.

Posted by: Crusty Baguette at April 13, 2009 11:47 AM

Great pictures, although I'm not sure I like all those animals taking advantage of all our free drinking water... I bet that deer isn't even a legal resident of our country! Although I'm sure those wild creatures are nice in their own way, the fact is that they are draining America of all our god-given land, and offer nothing to society in return! Look at that boar freeloading, bringing more and more children into this country that WE will have the burden of educating... and it is a fact that Boar children test lower than our children time and time again. It time to rethink who we let into our country once and for all.

Posted by: Julie at April 13, 2009 11:27 AM

I don't mind people coming to this country to make their lives better, but most of them come here and make our lives worse. If you want to be part of this country, become a citizen and pay taxes like this rest of us.

Posted by: Sally at April 13, 2009 11:19 AM

it is shocking to see the comments made by some of you. you should be ashamed as americans, because you are embarrassing the country.

you may have been fed by a silver spoon your entire life, but some people are so desperate for a new life that they have to hop the fence.
so desperate for clean water that they trespass onto someone's property to drink out of a shitty little hole in the ground.

are these the people we should be keeping out of our country, or trying to help? is it their fault for hearing stories about the "american dream" and how they can make it if they try?

how to get rid of illegal immigrants: MAKE THEM LEGAL. give them a chance. give them citizenship, homes, jobs, and food.

and finally, the racist, pig-headed people on this forum need to get their asses out of the 19th century and get real.

Posted by: dirtyliberal at April 13, 2009 10:30 AM

I live in Deep South Texas; Hidalgo County. I love the pics,as for the last one, it happens every day. looking at what they have and the number I am 99% sure they are not here legally. I am glad they got water, it is amazing how many die from dehydration, even in winter dehydration can get you here. I wish they would go and enter the country legally, so many people take the years and money to come the right way, and these guys just come on in, it is not fair to those who take the time to do it legitimately.

My white haired grandmother has the same sympathetic heart for illegals. They are just humans in need etc. I don't try to reason and argue with her. She never had a job in her life, she thinks money and jobs just comes of the tree. Silly people that want us to support Mexico have a) never been to Mexico, b) never worked and sweated for a living.

Mexicans are good people, but Mexico is reflective of the type of people that live there. And when they come here they do not become like us, they stay like Mexicans. In my city there are many areas that look just like Mexico. Hand painted sings, litter, crappy cars, poor repairs to walls and structures.

The schools are the same. Mexicans bring illiteracy and slow learners and lower the minimum expectations on other children. Sorry, but it's true.

I think people that believe in helping Mexicans should take responsibility for them personally. You take them into your house, educate them, feed them, teach them english and culture, send them to college, provide them health care. And don't forget about their kids. You need to provide education, welfare, social security for the 13 kids and grandkids they are going to have.

Also don't forget that Mexico is a 2nd world country. Mexico has it's own illegal alien problems. Maybe we should help the truly needy in those countries. Maybe if we weren't already paying for so many Mexicans, we could afford to help some other countries.

What wonderful photos, many thanks to person that posted them.

Concerning the last photo, as a native Texan I can say from experience, those are illegals. Anyone who says they aren't are living in a dream world. My father-in-law has a ranch in Del Rio and the illegals have cut his fence down so many times that we ended up building a ladder over it so they could burglarize his home without the added damages of fence repair - which occurs almost on a weekly basis. While there are many Mexicans that enter the US illegally to try to better themselves and the lives of their families, there are thousands that are here to rape, murder, rob and steal.

It's easy to scream racism when you're not a victim of their crimes, which are rampant in Texas as it is in many of the other border states. Mexican males that are here illegally are the largest demographic of offenders that commit sexual assaults on women and children in the State of Texas. That's something to think about when considering amnesty for these law breakers.

So please, before you play your race card in protecting thieves, murderers and rapists, remember you're being a part of the problem, not a part of the solution.

Posted by: TexasBelle at April 13, 2009 2:41 AM

I used to work on a ranch in South Texas and yes those people are probably "illegals" just filling up their water jugs. It was not uncommon for us to come across them walking through the property and give them a ride to the main road.

Posted by: Texas Guy at April 12, 2009 11:26 PM

Living creatures need water. It's a blessing when they find it.Humans are living creatures."Point final",as we say here in Quebec.
Too many of us forget how easy it would be for us to perish without our basic needs met.
It might well come to that, & sooner than we all think.
Those who think Walmart will provide will be shocked to find it's not so...
Cheap stuff "Made in China" will be worthless, water a precious commodity.
Americans shouldn't sneer at fellow creatures seeking out the water they need to stay alive.

I highly doubt those men are illegals. I have seen too many documentaries about illegal border crossings and these men are 1000X's cleaner then the Mexicans who do try to journey north. I agree with "whateve" they are probably just ranch hands who service the water hole to make sure it doesn't get contaminated. No one wants sick animals.

this is to all of you on the page: the haters, the lovers, the anti-ists, the other stumblers like me, mexicans, whites, and animal lovers...

I AM LAUGHING AT ALL OF YOU.

it seems everyone thinks they're smarter than the last person that posted. doesn't that make me the smartest out of all of you? looking at your posts, i certainly hope so. i don't usually add to these e-battles over what started out so innocently amusing, but with all the ranting on this page, you've left yourselves open for the sucker-punch of the century. here's what i recommend:

1. get off the internet. you don't need to let the world know you're that ignorant so quickly.

2. watch some chapelle's show, and lose some of that sensitivity. laugh at the mexicans stealing water from the waterhole, then laugh at your own white ass for being so stereotypical yourself.

3. go get laid or something. this is how your time is best used? damn.

Posted by: laughingatallofyou at April 12, 2009 2:37 PM

These are wonderful - I love that all the animals have a place to get a drink, although I'm a little worried about the baby javelina. The people, whether they are "illegals" or not, are human beings who thirst and should have access to water. Thank you for providing it and for providing these wonderful pictures.

I hope this camera is not being used to capture humans or animals, in the literal meaning.

Posted by: Cheryl at April 12, 2009 1:56 PM

"bringing crime, drugs, and weapons into our country..."

Believe me, there's plenty of crime and drugs and certainly enough weapons in this country anyway. I highly doubt that "illegals" as you charmingly refer to them are doing most of that damage. American ideals used to be altruistic. Now we're just selfish and ignorant and hateful.

Posted by: Nick at April 12, 2009 1:29 PM

I love all the people who are calling the others racists....Sure there have been some racist remarks, but the truth is, they're illegal. They're breaking the law. Try going to rob a bank, and see if they will grant you a pardon like Obama is trying to get for Illegals. The fact that he is willing to overlook their breaking the law, bringing crime, drugs, and weapons into our country is bull.

So don't call people racist, because Illegals don't deserve to be in out country.

Posted by: mac at April 12, 2009 1:10 PM

Oy... perfectly harmless and interesting photos taken to regular internet troll interpretations. Here's the deal. The Fish and Game departments, in my case and I believe this case, the Arizona Game and Fish regularly set up motion sensing cameras at man-made watering holes to document what animals use them and which are in that area. They're an invaluable tool. Along with animals though, border crossers are pretty common too. They usually pass the information on to the Border Patrol and go back to their jobs. The animals you see are a Mountain Lion (regionally called Cougars or Pumas, but here they're mountain lions), a juvenile deer (White Tale I believe but it's hard to tell for sure), Great Horned Owl, two images of a Coati that seems to have had lost its tail at some point, a Grey Fox, a Javelina (not a wild boar, though they look like pigs they are actually in the Peccary family with more in common with Hippos than pigs), and a Bobcat (named for that short stubby tail).

Posted by: david at April 12, 2009 12:12 PM

The adult wild boar looks like it's wearing high heels. LoL

And to all you racist assholes, I certainly hope that you aren't ever stranded in Mexico somewhere without the convenience of a tap faucet to get your thirst quenched. Someone might feel as though you are too filthy of animals to allow it. Then we could hear how fast you changed your tune.

Get a life of your own.

Living in Arizona, I learned the "smell of water" for the first time. It does smell sweet, and vital, in a habitat where water is limited. We humans have a less acute sense of smell than most other animals - but it works well enough to find the watering hole!

People who haven't lived in dry areas may not have had that experience.

Humans need water too. Anyone traveling in a non-industrial car way can sense where & when to harness water. This being south Texas, I would imagine if any of the commentators here would have noticed the sweet smell of our sacred liquid had they been walking through.

If you judge people by their animal reaction to the environment, you are nothing but an egotistic ass that doesn't understand how the world works.

Let me point out something. These are photos that have a water hole as the common denominator. Nowhere in the page is there a description that says "look at my pics of animals". Had the dude/lady made a racist page we'd all be all over it. Relax man not everyone is a racist, sexist, or some kind of ist. Sincerely the Anti-Ist

"Asdf, there is no definitive indication that the people in the last picture are Mexican. I'm slightly offended for after seeing the arrangement of these photographs. We are not animals." Posted by: kmp at April 11, 2009 10:33 PM

Uh...then what are we? Humans are animals too, dumas. PS: I agree with you, there's no reason to assume they're Mexicans; matter of fact, the one leaning over resembles an Asian of some sort. However...it's in south Texas so it stands to reason they'd be Mexicans since there's a large population of them in south Texas.
