Light rail ridership in Seattle
Has anyone sat down and run the numbers?
In the
Seattle Post-Intelligencer there is an article about a glitch with the hardware used to count passengers.
It mentions that for a given weekday, there are about 14,784 riders. Let's call it 15K
It also mentions that the entire project has cost $2.3 Billion of State and Federal funding.
Now, the way I look at it, 2.3B divided by 15K gives me 153,333.
So each regular rider is consuming about $150K of my Tax dollars.
It would have been cheaper to give them all a Prius or a SmartCar and still have $100K left over from each person for gas money and some new busses for Metro...
