Greenwald: Snowden�s Files Are Out There if �Anything Happens� to Him
As the U.S. government presses Moscow to extradite former National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden, America�s most wanted leaker has a plan B. The former NSA systems administrator has already given encoded files containing an archive of the secrets he lifted from his old employer to several people. If anything happens to Snowden, the files will be unlocked.
There are so many options available to Snowden -- it is one thing to try to decrypt a file when handed to you on a thumbdrive. It is another thing entirely to try to find each and every fragment of the file when it is distributed through the internet. Especially when the decryption key has been broken into ten parts but you only need three random fragments to successfully decrypt. Especially when the agent has had several months to plan.
The keys could be anywhere from steganography in someone's Facebook page to a hidden folder in an SD card in someone's brother's camera. This
story writ large...
