If you are looking for a good online store that has excellent community support, check out
CubeCart.
At only $70, they are obviously counting on you to do all the development of your storefront but the application is very well written and for that $70, you get free updates for life. Lots of 3rd party mods and a number of people are active in doing custom programming.
